Al Khamsa Horses Do Well at Ontario Championship Endurance Race The 2011 Ontario Championship Endurance Race was held on September 4, 2011 near Sharbot Lake, Ontario. Of the 19 entries, four were Straight Egyptian and Al Khamsa horses and three of these placed in the top ten. Fourteen horses completed the race. The first place horse was HAF Allieena+/ (Royal Jalliel x Imperial Nazreena), a 16 year old mare who has been competing at distance rides for 7 years. “Leena”, as she is affectionately known, is owned and was ridden by Michelle Bignell of Cayuse Creek Ranch, Millbrook, Ontario. This was Leena's 39th endurance race, of which she has completed 38. Shameen (Safeen x Bint El Shams), an 11 year old gelding, finished a strong 3rd, about 20 minutes behind Leena. He is owned and was ridden by Ron Savard of Campbellville, Ontario. Finishing in 7th place was Kharringtonn (Alaa Khaleef x RG Mone), owned and ridden by David MacDonald of Erin, Ontario. Unfortunately, the fourth horse, Kashif (True Colours x HAF Allieena+/), who had been running at the front with Leena all day, was unable to complete due to a muscle spasm at mile 35. He is owned and ridden by Bob Coleman of Cayuse Creek Ranch, Millbrook, Ontario.
